Festival Fever Blog Tour: Day Four

Festival Fever Blog Tour: Day Four

Happy Summer Solstice! It's the longest day of the year today- and the shortest night! If you missed my post, I'm hosting our family's first annual Summer Solstice Party tonight! My hubby and I have been wanting to have a yearly tradition like this-- an old-fashion, neighborhood block party, the kind of get together that just doesn't happen enough anymore.  I'll be wearing my Bonnaroo skirt, serving up fried chicken, playing ladder ball, and trying to maintain a respectable level of restraint around the s'mores bar.  I'm so excited to have this as our new family tradition and give our boys some great childhood memories along the way.

I wish people had more just-for-the-fun-of-it parties like this (or maybe they're having them, and I'm just not invited? Ha!).  Sometimes you just need to create your own festival, celebrate the small stuff, and enjoy the little moments.

Our bloggers today know what I'm talking about! Day Four of Festival Fever is hopping with awesome mashups to wear to some super fun events.

Marta guest blogged for me over at Middle River Studio! I loved having her join the tour and be able to write a post for my blog.  She is the cutest- I love seeing her pictures all over the facebook sewing underworld (in front of that turquoise door!).  She sewed up a Day Dream and Jawbreaker mash-up.  And, a girl after my own heart, she talks about wearing it to an antique market! Read all about it here.

It warmed my heart to see two of our bloggers take pictures of their makes together! Aimee (from the Sewing Scientist) and Sharon (from Sweet Mama Life) teamed up for a photo session this week- how awesome is that?! I have yet to have met any of my on-line sewing friends in real life, so I think this is so fantastic!

Aimee used the RuLo pattern, and made a super fun cold-shoulder hack out of it.  I love the silhouette and definitely want to copy this one soon! She's a woman of many talents and also dabbles in photography, so she loves to hit up art festivals.  Read all about her RuLo hack and the sweet festivals she attends over at the Sewing Scientist!

Sharon used the Slash Tunic to make an AMAZING nursing top.  She added zippers to the princess seams, and I think the use of stripes was positively perfect!   I know this is a hack that's been asked about a lot, so I'm excited to see such a beautiful execution of it. Learn more about is and her summer ranch bash at Sweet Mama Life!

That's all for day four.  Pop over to the G+G Facebook page for the giveaway from Wandering Willow Design- perfect jewelry to complete your boho festival look! Comment on any of today's blogs for a chance to win!
